Best Practices for Safe Multisig Management in a Growing DAO

Hi everyone,

I’m currently helping a mid-sized DAO optimize its treasury and governance workflows using Safe, and while the core setup has been working well so far, we’re now encountering challenges as our contributor base and number of proposals grow.

Specifically, I’m looking for best practices or recommendations for the following:

  1. Multisig signer structure – How do you decide the optimal number of signers and threshold when the DAO scales? We’re trying to balance security with operational efficiency, but I’m not sure if increasing signers linearly with team size is the right approach.
  2. Proposal execution workflow – Are there any preferred tools or Safe modules that can help automate or streamline execution once a proposal is approved off-chain (e.g., via Snapshot)? I’ve heard about Zodiac but haven’t implemented it yet—any tips or pitfalls?
  3. Emergency access & contingency planning – In case multisig signers are unavailable or keys are lost, what are some community-trusted strategies for recovery or continuity? Have people here used timelocks or backup Safe setups successfully?

We’re also interested in any resources, community tools, or templates you’ve used that made your Safe experience smoother. I’ve browsed the docs and Discord, but thought it might help to hear directly from others who’ve faced similar scaling challenges in ccsp course in bangalore.

Appreciate any thoughts or shared experiences!

Thanks in advance
