[Draft] [OBRA] SafeGov: Transparent and Modular Treasury Management for DAOs - [IOPLUS]

Abstract

The proposal aims to develop SafeGov, a modular, user-friendly Treasury and fund management platform built on the Safe infrastructure. SafeGov will provide an intuitive, secure, and efficient solution for individuals and organizations to create, manage, and govern multi-signature treasuries with enhanced user experience and advanced management capabilities.

SafeGov is not another app.safe.global.

SafeGov is completely open source, and every individual, organization or institution can deploy their own private SafeGov service.

Initiative Description

Background:

Multi-signature wallets have become crucial in Web3 for secure asset management, but existing solutions often lack user-friendly interfaces and comprehensive treasury management features.

To be honest, the existing app.safe.global is not an APP with excellent performance.

Numerous iframe nesting slows down web page loading and the operation is not very smooth.

There is no user permission design required by many DAO organizations.

This is why there is such a large market for so many safe-based fund management organizations.

Just like the management of the SAFE DAO treasury, it is not totally transparent. Users need to check the use of funds on the chain, and every time the funds are used, they do not know where the funds go and why. Only a very small number of parties know. This brings difficulties to accountability and tracking of financial expenditures. As a result, the DAO governance effect is poor.

We have researched many related products on the market, such as

app.safe.global,aera.finance,coinshift.xyz,mesha.club

They are either not open source or more inclined to fund management.

None of their products have detailed instructions on the use of DAO funds.

Our plan is to build a platform that can tracks DAO funds. Every movement of DAO funds must be filled in with a brief description or detailed reasons (manually or automatically)

Of course there are other functions, such as ETH and ERC20 token transactions, etc.

Key Challenges in Current Treasury Management:

  • Complex multi-sig wallet interfaces

  • Limited visualization of fund flows

  • Lack of integrated governance tools

  • Difficulty in tracking and reporting

Market Opportunity:

  • Growing demand for secure, transparent treasury management

  • Increasing adoption of multi-sig wallets in DAOs and organizations

  • Need for simplified, intuitive financial management tools

SafeGov Features:

  • Comprehensive fund movement visualization

  • Modular proposal tracking systems

  • Historical transaction analysis

  • Support for multiple blockchain networks (planned)

  • Flexible role and permission management (planned)

  • Advanced access controls (planned)

Current status

  • Initial concept and architecture design processing

  • Preliminary UI/UX mockups processing

Risks

Adoption Risks

  • User education and onboarding

  • Competing with existing treasury tools

Additional support/resources

Hey @chris, thanks for the proposal. This looks like a product development proposal to me, rather than a project focused on researching or experimenting with the decentralization of the Safe tech stack, which the mentioned strategy is supposed to fund. So I don’t think this initiative qualifies to apply under [Strategy 4] Research decentralization of Safe tech stack.

Tagging @Andre for clarity.

In fact, you can think of it as a dashboard of Safe, which is based on the SAFE technology stack. If strategy 4 is defined narrowly, many opportunities for community contribution will be lost.

So which strategy do you think this should apply to?

This sounds best fit for the Wildcard Strategy

Is there any remaining quota for Wildcard Strategy that can be applied for?

Wildcard budget is currently $0, but we are proposing to extend the DAO grants program with some changes. You can apply there, depending on how it gets shaped.

then should I apply for next round OBRA?
