Important Update: Changes to Token Pricing in Our API

I’ve got an important update to share about our transactions service. As you know, we’ve been providing an estimated USD price for tokens, but given the sheer number of tokens and considering pricing isn’t our core focus, it’s been quite challenging to maintain this feature effectively.

So, here’s what’s happening:

  • New Service for Pricing: We’re shifting the pricing logic to a new service, which is currently in development. You can check it out here: Safe Price Service on GitHub.
  • Community-Driven: A key point about this new service – it won’t be maintained by us. We’re looking to the community to take the lead on maintaining it. Don’t worry, though, we’ll still be around to push security updates and review community Pull Requests.
  • Need an Immediate Alternative? If you need a quick substitute for pricing info, services like Coingecko are a great option.
  • Timing: Starting on November 30th, 2023, our API will begin returning zero for every USD token price. It’s important to note, however, that if you’re using our official UI, you’ll still see prices, thanks to our integration with Coingecko.
  • Who’s Affected?: Anyone using the token price endpoint or the balances USD endpoint should take note. Your scripts and apps will function as before, but prices will be returned as 0.

We understand this is a significant change, and we’re here to support you through this transition. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out.

Please note that the cutoff date has changed to November 30th to account for the Thanksgiving holiday in the US.
